Karen Upton Noble - March 2011
It was a 50 th birthday that will go down as the party of the century. Referred to as 3/11/11 Karen Upton Noble ‘83 and her husband Rick hosted 150 of Karen’s nearest and dearest friends for a weekend in New Orleans. The weekend involved everything from a crab , shrimp and crawfish boil , to Friday lunch at Galatoires, Saturday diners at various famed New Orleans establishments, and a private party at the House of Blues where guests were given a private dance concert by the famed Rockin’ Doopsie. Guests danced through the night and then were ushered upstairs to the private dimly lit hideouts of the Foundation Room. The party continued until well into the next morning. Those in attendance from MHC were Shiela Byrd Carmichael ’83 and husband Dr. Donny , Susan Burger ’83, Barbra Anderson ’83, Cathy Kegelman Reynolds ’83 and husband Doug, Lisa Steele ’83,Lisa Ruggiero Rosser 83 and husband Rob, Jane Shanley Brown 83 and husband Brad, Jamie Nelson Rubin’84, Noni Lindahl ‘84 and husband Rich. From New York to Washington, Texas to Bermuda the old MHC friends came from near and far to attend this now legendary celebration of epic proportions.
As has been accustomed since the first pyramid taken in front of the CI in South Hadley, party dress never stops this crowd from trying to reenact their college days.

Sheila Byrd Dennis - January 2011
Sheila Dennis, who works in non-profit fundraising for the Wilderness Society, wrote in for the first time ever,
“I’m proud to say that my middle daughter, Madelyn or “Mimi”, graduated from Mount Holyoke last May. It was a really special day for me, as it was also my sister Sharon’s 25th MHC reunion, so she was there as well.” Sheila enjoyed visiting Mimi while she was a student. “MHC has only changed for the better since we graduated! I attended a job fair for MHC students last spring to talk about my nonprofit work. If there was ever an event that made me realize what special women go to MHC, it was speaking to dozens of intelligent, extremely well prepared students from MHC about what they want to accomplish upon graduation. They were incredibly impressive.” “So while not actively engaged as an alum, MHC is still a major part of my life, and I owe much to a great school that is now a wonderful part of my daughter’s life.”

Eileen Coogan Boyle - January 2011
Eileen is marking her 50th birthday by running a 50 kilometer trail run in April. Then, she plans to climb Mt. Rainer in August five days after her birthday. “I didn’t really start running till after I turned 40, and now it is my favorite activity outside of work and nagging my 16-year-old to do his homework. I’ve run a couple dozen half marathons, and 5 marathons….I prefer to do unusual races and different kinds of challenges rather than try to just be faster. So (I) got into the trail runs which I just love. I’m in “training” now for the 50k and looking forward to that, after which the serious training for Mt Rainier will start.”
